Military truck plunges into Ganga canal

A military truck plunged into Ganga canal in Murad Nagar area owing to reduced visibility due to dense fog this morning, police said.

The truck was on its way to New Delhi from Meerut cantonment when the the incident occurred at 8 AM. Six soldiers and a driver were riding in it, SHO Raj Kumar said.

When the truck reached near Gang Nahar, a speeding car collided with the truck and it plunged into the canal after breaking railings of the bridge in an attempt to save the car, he said.

The soldiers were rescued by local divers. They sustained minor injuries and were rushed to the nearby hospital from where they were discharged after receiving first-aid.
 

The truck was pulled out by a crane and handed over to army officials who reached the spot from Meerut cantonment, the officer added.
