In a first, military veterans had their tableaux on display at the Republic Day Parade, amid their continuing agitation for implementation of One-Rank-One-Pension.
The tableaux, which was put out by Directorate of Army Veterans, showcased the role of veterans in nation building. It also conveyed the message that a soldier always tries to contribute to nation building, irrespective of his being in service or not.
Every year, around 60,000 military personnel hang their boots and join the mainstream civilian life, while continuing their ties with the defence forces.
