Milk procurement in Haryana reaches 3.68 lakh litres per day

Haryana Dairy Development Cooperative Federation today said its average daily milk procurement touched 3.68 lakh litres against sale of 3.76 lakh litres per day during April 2013 to January 2014 period.

During the year 2012-13, the federation recorded sales of Rs 958 crore, a spokesman said.

The total handling capacity of five milk plants in the state has been enhanced from 4.70 lakh litres per day to 8.80 lakh litres per day during this period.

A total of 4045 MT ghee was sold from April 1, 2013 to January 31, 2014, he added.

With a view to strengthen milk marketing, the spokesman said that 354 milk booths and milk bars have been set up in different cities and towns in the state so far.
 

He said that the state government has sanctioned subsidy of Rs four per litre of milk to be paid to producers and dairy farms under 'Mukhyamantri Dugdh Utpadak Protsahan Yojna'.

Under this scheme, subsidy amounting Rs 10.16 crore has been paid to milk producers of state during the period June 27, 2013 to September 30, 2013.

The state government has also decided to continue this scheme from April to September during the next two years for which the subsidy would amount to Rs 37.12 crore for the year 2014-15 and Rs 44.54 crore for 2015-16, he added.

He said that there was a plan to provide automatic milk collection units and milk testers to all the societies in the next five years.

Bulk milk coolers would be provided to a Milk Producer Society, who forms a cluster of 10-15 villages.
