Milk producers at Chinnampathi village in Valparai in the district today poured thousands of litres of milk on the road protesting alleged remarks by milk societies in Kerala that the milk contained harmful insects.
Some 300 to 400 milk producers were supplying 10,000 litres of milk to Chandrapuram and Attapallam milk societies across the border for the last few years, police said.
However, recently the societies allegedly said the milk contained poisonous insects and that they did not want milk from the state in future.
Angered over the remarks, the producers poured some 10,000 litres of milk on the road, resulting in tension for some time in the area, they said.
