Punjab State Co-operative Milk Producers Federation Limited (Milkfed) has procured 453.93 lakh kg of milk from 6,359 societies of the state in December.
Milkfed's daily average milk procurement in Punjab is 1,464.3 thousand kg, an official spokesman said here today, adding that Milkfed also takes care of animals, especially milch animals.
As many as 48,285 sick animals were treated in Punjab through 561 first aid centres and 1,763 veterinary centres.
The spokesman said Milkfed sold cattle feed, mineral mixture, lick brick and fodder seed to the tune of 5,630 metric tonnes, 15,996 kg, 264 kg and 35 kg, respectively to milk producers.
The Federation also sold 119 metric tonnes of 'ghee' through various societies in the state, the spokesman added.
