MIMS selected as centre for Edinburgh MRCS OSCE prep course

City based Aster Malabar Institute of Medical Science (MIMS) hospital has been selected as the centre for Edinburgh MRCS OSCE Preparation Course, scheduled for August 12 and 13 this year.

Dr Krishna Kumar, HOD and Senior Consultant, Department of Plastic Surgery, Aster MIMS will be the local convener and one of the trainers, a MIMS press release said here today.

Managed by The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh,the the two-day course will combine presentations, discussions, practical sessions, tips and feedbacks from tutors experienced in the MRCS exam.

A major component of the course is the series of simulated MRCS OSCE stations covering clinical and procedural skills,applied surgical science and critical care, anatomy and surgical pathology and communication skills, it said.
 

Clinical OSCE stations will use both real and simulated patients and examiners will give structured individual feedback to attending candidates.

"The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh has chosen our institution as an accredited centre for the preparatory course because of the global standards that we adhere to. It is indeed an honour to host the entire MRCS team and we at Aster MIMS consider this a real privilege", Dr Rahul Menon, CEO, Aster MIMS said in the release.
