Min temperatures stay above normal in Pb, Haryana

Minimum temperature today stayed several notches above normal in most parts of Punjab and Haryana.

Union territory Chandigarh, the joint capital of the two states, registered its minimum at 9.7 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal, a MeT department official said here.

Amritsar recorded its low at 7 degrees, up three degrees while Ludhiana and Patiala braved cold weather at 9.9 and 8.8 degrees Celsius respectively, up to four notches above normal.

In Haryana, Karnal registered its minimum at 6.8 degrees, down one notch against normal while Narnaul's minimum was 11.6 degrees, six degrees above normal.

Among other places, Ambala had a low of 10 degrees, up three degrees while Hisar registered a low of 7.5 degrees Celsius, a notch below normal.
 

Dense fog at many places affected rail, road and air traffic, officials said.
