Recreating the Jaisalmer desert in the 'City of Joy', a Rajasthani 'Apna Gao' popped up amid the high rises of sector V as part of the 'Travel West' tourism campaign.
While folk singers and dancers from the sand dunes regaled the audiences and 'kathputlis' swayed in the air in puppet shows, camels moved around in a riot of bright earthy colours typical of the state in one verdant stretch of Salt Lake city.
"Since the Golden Fort (Jaisalmer) is most famous among Bengalees due to Satyajit Ray's timeless film 'Sonar Kella' we have recreated the entire structure with the local artisans working for months," a spokesperson of Lok Sanskriti said today after the conclusion of the fair.

The organisation comprised leading members of Marwari community, including owners and top executives of big corporate houses, dignitaries, bureaucrats besides common people from different economic strata.
"We want to build bridges with the local populace through this fair," he said.
