This rare collection of poems, titled "1-One", has the distinction of being the smallest book which carries the largest number of languages in a single volume, Adhoor said.
The one cm long and one cm wide work with a thickness of 4mm and weighing 300mg, was released by Adhoor yesterday,as his "humble dedication" to the "reading week" observed in third week of July in Kerala.
It has poems in French, Hebrew, Yiddish, Chinese, Arabic, and many other Asian, European and African tongues, some ancient like Armenian and others spoken by smaller communities struggling to preserve their cultural heritage.
The "mini" and "micro" poems were penned by Adhoor first in Malayalam or English and then translated into various languages with the help of his friends and well-wishers in different parts of the world through online contact.
"Making the book has been a painstaking job, though it gave me great creative pleasure. It took at least three hours to create one book by hand. As many as 10 books were made of a single A-4 size sheet," Adhoor told PTI.
Considering the physical strain involved in making each copy, the poet had put the entire work on the web which could be accessed by readers by logging in at www.Satharadhoor.Com.
His earlier works includes '50:50', a book of 1.5 cm X 1.3 cm in dimension and weighing 800mg, half of which are poems and the rest short stories. (MORE)
