The minimum temperature went down by several degrees at many places in Kashmir Valley owing to dry weather and clear night sky..
The minimum temperature in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, settled at 1.6 degrees Celsius nearly four degrees down from the previous night's 5.3 degrees Celsius, an official of the MeT Department here said.
He said Kokernag hill resort in south Kashmir recorded a low of 3.1 degrees Celsius, a decrease of a degree from the yesterday's 4.1 degrees Celsius.

The famous ski-resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir, a star attraction for tourists visiting the Valley during winter, registered a low of minus 3.6 degrees Celsius compared to the previous night's minus 2.4 degrees Celsius, the official said.
He said Qazigund and Pahalgam were the only recorded places in the Valley where the minimum temperature went up.
Qazigund, in south Kashmir, recorded a low of 1.6 degrees Celsius compared to the previous night's 1.4 degrees Celsius, the official said.
He said Pahalgam hill resort in south Kashmir, which serves as a base camp during the annual Amarnath yatra, recorded a low of minus 2.3 degrees Celsius.
Leh in Ladakh region, recorded a low of minus 5.1 degrees Celsius, up by over five degrees from yesterday's minus 10.4 degrees Celsius, the official said.
He said the nearby Kargil town registered a low of minus 9 degrees Celsius against the previous night's minus 9.4 degrees Celsius.
Kargil town was the coldest recorded place in the state.
The MeT office has forecast mainly dry weather in the Valley over the next week.
