Minimum temperatures dip in Punjab, Haryana

Minimum temperatures across Punjab and Haryana dipped below normal limits in most parts of the region today which is likely to receive light to moderate rainfall in days ahead.

The minimum temperatures hovered between one to five degrees Celsius below normal limits in most parts of Punjab and Haryana, the MeT office said here.

In the plains of Punjab and Haryana, Amritsar was coldest with a low of 6.7 degrees Celsius which was three notches below normal.

While Karnal had a low of 7.6 degrees Celsius, five notches below normal, the minimum temperature at Ludhiana was 9.7 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal.
 

Among other places, Hisar settled at a low of 10.1 degrees Celsius, three notches below normal followed by 10.2 degrees Celsius in Amritsar, two notches below normal, 10.4 degrees Celsius at Patiala, two notches below normal and 11 degrees Celsius at Narnaul.

Chandigarh had a low of 10 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal whereas Bhiwani settled at a low of 14 degrees Celsius.

The MeT department predicted light to moderate rainfall at several places in the region during the next 48 hours due to western disturbances over Punjab and Haryana.
