Mining inspector held for taking Rs 10K bribe

A mining inspector was today arrestedby anti-corruption bureau (ACB) for allegedly taking abribeof Rs 10,000 in Chhattisgarh's Bilaspur district.

Omprakash Khandekar (39), mining inspector Bilaspur, was caught after accepting thebribefrom the complainant, anACBofficial told PTI.

A native of Daarsagar village, the complainant had made bricks for the construction of his house which was objected by Khandekar citing it as an illegal activity.

Later, Khandekar demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant for extending him relief and not recovering fine from him, he said.

Meanwhile, the victim lodged a complaint toACBin this connection following which it was verified.

The bureau laid a trap at the officer of Collector, Bilaspur where Khandekar had agreed to accept the bribe, he said.
 

As Khandekar received thebribeamount he was apprehended, the official said.

A case under various sections of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 has been registered against him, he said adding a probe was one.
