Minister for Law, Justice and Muzarai T B Jayachandra today accepted that there had been discrimination in the amount sanctioned to each assembly constituency for rejuvenation of temples during 2014-15.

Responding to the question raised by BJP's Basavaraja S Bommai during the question hour in the assembly, he said "it is true there has been discrimination; I'm the third Minister to this department, when the time came funds were also less..."

He also promised to maintain balance while sanctioning amount on the basis of the population and number of temples, in the days to come.

Raising the issue of discrimination in the amount sanctioned, Bommai alleged that Jayachandra has sanctioned larger amount to his home district of Tumkur.

Stating that Rs 300 crore worth temple fund was lying in bank accounts unused, Jayachandra said a plan of action had been prepared to use it for improving the basic facilities at the temples.
