Minister reviews preparations for Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary celebrations

Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri today reviewed the preparations for year-long celebrations of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat, which would commence on October 2.

Rajghat Samadhi Committee, under Puri's chairmanship, also approved works to be undertaken relating to waterproofing of Samadhi alcoves, installation of CCTV at the parking area, universal accessibility, plantation work, provisioning of walkway around Rajghat complex.

"The 121st meeting of the Rajghat Samadhi Committee (RSC) reviewed the preparations for the year-long celebrations of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi which would commence on October 2," the ministry said in a statement.

 

It said the committee also decided to form a sub-group to examine and suggest measures that need to be implemented at Rajghat Samadhi Complex in tune with the sanctity and simplicity of the place.
