"The minister is giving half truths on gas allocation to Ahmedabad and half truths are always equivalent to falsehood," Jaitley said.

Singh had said yesterday that Gujarat was allocated about 30 to 40 per cent of the total gas supplied by the Centre and the charge that the state was being supplied inadequate gas was wrong.

The BJP has launched an advertisement campaign saying that though the Centre was suppling gas to consumers in Delhi and Mumbai under the administered price mechanism (APM), it was not doing so for Ahmedabad, resulting in gas consumers in the city paying more.

"The Centre is supplying gas to private industries, its own public sector units and big refineries located in Gujarat, but they are not supplying gas for domestic users of Ahmedabad city," Jaitley said.

"Our question is why the Central government is not supplying gas to Gujarat at the same price as it is being supplied to Mumbai and Delhi and some other cities. But the minister instead of giving answer on that question is arguing that Gujarat gets more gas which is half truth," Jaitley said.

Even the Gujarat High Court last month had directed the Centre to supply gas to domestic users of Ahmedabad at the same rate that was being charged on other cities, he said.

"We are going to take up this issue in Parliament and with the Central government," he said.

Minister of State for Energy in Gujarat Saurabh Patel said that the Centre should follow the High Court order and give gas to the state under the APM as the state currently has to import gas resulting in increase in its price.
