Ministers in previous Mayawati govt face heat in LACCFED scam

The team reached the residences of Rangnath Mishra and Chandra Dev Ram Yadav to take them into custody after a court issued non-bailable warrants for their arrest but the leaders were not available there, official sources said here.

Meanwhile, in the state capital another minister in the previous BSP government Lakshmikant was grilled by the SIB in connection with multi-crore Labour and Construction Cooperative Federation (LACCFED) scam.

The two separate SIB teams led by inspector SP Singh and Deputy SP SS Siddhu returned to Lucknow after conducting searches at the residences of the former ministers.

While Yadav's resides in Sidhari area of Azamgarh, Mishra's residence is at Aurai area of Bhadohi district, the sources said.

 

Ranganath Mishra was the secondary education minister in the Mayawati government while Yadav was the small industries minister.

At the residence of Mishra, the team was informed that he was in New Delhi in connection with a court case, while family members of Yadav told the team that he was in Lucknow.

BJP leader Badshaah Singh, who was the labour minister in BSP regime was earlier arrested here for his involvement in the alleged multi-crore scam.

The SIB is investigating the Rs 50-crore LACCFED scam in which leaders allegedly minted money in construction of buildings, including mortuaries, signboards in Navodaya schools, ITI Bhavans, homoeopathy hospitals, polytechnic hostels, employment exchanges, court rooms and veterinary hospitals in 2010-2011 during the previous Mayawati government.
