A five-year-old boy today accidentally fell into a 200-foot deep open borewell at Mundla village at Barnagar tehsil, 55 km from here, police said.

An operation to rescue the minor has been launched by the authorities.

"Ayush, son of Mahesh Parmar, a labourer, this morning slipped into the borewell while playing and got stuck at 30 feet depth from the ground level," Barnagar police station in charge, Inspector Gopal Parmar told PTI.

After getting the information, authorities rushed to the spot and launched a rescue-operation, he said, adding, "Oxygen is being pumped into the borewell."

The rescuers are digging a parallel hole near the borewell in an attempt to pull out the child alive, the Inspector said.
