The body of a four-year-old boy was found on the terrace of a residential building near his grandmother's house in Musheerabad area here, police said today.

As per preliminary investigation, the police have ruled out any foul play in the matter.

The boy, who hailed from Jiyaguda, had accompanied his mother to his grandmother's house in Musheerabad and was last seen playing in his neighbourhood on Wednesday evening.

After he did not return home, his family members started looking for him. His body was spotted on the terrace of a nearby two-storey building around midnight by some relatives, police said.

"Citing postmortem report, the doctors opined that the boy apparently died after some food got stuck in his throat. Based on preliminary investigation, there is no foul play. However, we are investigating further. The boy's viscera has been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory," Musheerabad Police Station Inspector S Ramchandra Reddy said.

A case has been registered under section 174 of CrPc (suspicious death).
