A six-year-old boy apparently died due to suffocation after he and his cousin accidentally got locked up in a car with tinted glasses in Bharuch city, about 90 kms from here.
The two boys, Shahid Sajidbhai Patel and his cousin, five-year-old Anas Altaf Patel, went missing yesterday, police Inspector M J Rana said.
Initially, their parents thought they might have gone to watch 'tazia' processions passing through the area on the occasion of Muharram. However, when the two did not turn up for long, their parents started searching for them.

They later filed a missing complaint with the police, Rana said.
When they returned home, the parents heard some faint noise from the car parked in the compound of their house.
They opened the car door and found Shahid lying dead inside and Anas sweating in an exhausted condition while struggling to breathe.
Anas was later admitted to a hospital, police said.
Both the children were locked for about 4-5 hours in the car with no ventilation, resulting in the death of Shahid apparently due to suffocation, the police officer said.
The family members repented at not checking the car parked near their home before searching for them in the city.
Police said the car had black film over its windows, because of which the two children could not attract attention of anyone towards them.
A case has been registered and the statements of the family members have been recorded in this regard, Rana said adding that they do not suspect any foul play in the mishap.
