Minor drowns in canal

A 14-year-old boy drowned while taking bath in a canal today in South Delhi's Rajokri area, police said.

Hemant got carried away by the current in the canal.

Locals alerted the police and the body of the boy was fished out after a five-hour long search, police said.

"One fire tender was rushed to the spot at around 6.35 AM. The rescue operation went on for about five hours after which the boy's body was traced," a fire official said.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him brought dead on arrival.
