A minor girl attempted suicide by setting herself on fire after being raped by a 20-year-old youth in Bharatpur district in Rajasthan.
The incident took place yesterday when the 14-year-old girl was alone in her house as her family members had gone out, police said.
Deepak then entered the house and raped the girl, they said.
Meanwhile, girl's brother Pooran came back to take a farming tool and caught the accused and locked him in a room.
When Deepak's family members came to know about the incident, they came and thrashed Pooran and took the accused with them, police said.
The girl then poured kerosene and tried to set herself ablaze, they said, adding, she was rushed to a government hospital where she is currently being treated and her condition is stable.
The alleged accused is absconding and a case in this connection has been registered today with Sewar Police Station.
