An 11-year-old girl recently accused her mother and step father of "ill-treating" her and making her work as a child labourer.

However, police today said the matter was sorted out between the girl and her mother.

According to city-based 'Balala Hakkula Sangham', an NGO working for child rights, the girl was made to work as a labourer and her parents abused and harassed her.

Honorary president of the NGO Achyuta Rao said the area below left eye of the girl swelled due to ill-treatment meted out to her.

He said a complaint was lodged with officials of 'Child Line' and the District Child Protection unit has been asked to rescue and shift the girl to Girls Home and arrest her parents.

However, S R Nagar police station Inspector Md Waheeduddin said they have not registered any case and that the matter was sorted out after counselling the mother of the girl.

"She suffered swelling below her eye after her mother allegedly threw a lighter towards her for not listening to her. The girl has left along with her mother," the inspector said.
