A watchman of a governnment girls hostel here allegedly attempted to rape a 14-year-old girl but she was saved as her mother landed up just in time, police said.
A case of attempted rape has been registered against the 25-year-old watchman Kishan Khati who fled after his nefarious design was foiled, the police added.
The girl is neither a student of the Kasturba Gandhi girls school nor does she live in its hostel in Pipalda village, the police said, adding her house is situated just opposite the hostel building.

At around 9 am today, she went to the hostel for some work, said Etawa police station SHO Sanjay Royal.
Khati allegedly caught hold of her and attempted to rape her inside the premises which was desolate as its occupants have gone to their native places because of puja holidays, Royal said.
However, the rape attempt was foiled as the victims mother suddenly turned up at the spot, the SHO added. The watchman then fled from there.
On the report by the victim's mother, a case under section 376 and 511 of IPC and section 7,8 and 18 of POSCO Act was lodged against the watchman who is absconding, the SHO said.
Police teams have been sent to nab the accused at suspected location, he added.
The minor victim has been sent for medical examination at Maharao Bheem Singh (MBS) hospital in Kota and further investigation into the matter is underway.
Kasturba Gandhi hostel offers school-cum-residential facilities for the girl students from 6th to 8th class with entire female staff. However, watchman can be a male.
