Minor girl killed in road mishap in J-K

A 17-year-old girl was killed and ten others were injured today after an overcrowded vehicle, in which they were traveling, skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge here, a police officer said.

The incident occurred when an overcrowded Tata Sumo was on its way from Srinagar to Chanderkot met with accident near Chanderkot in which the victim, Pooja Devi, died on spot, a police officer said.

The local unit of the army launched a rescue operation and helped evacuating the injured who were shifted to the Ramban hospital, he said.

Among the injured ones, four were women.
 

The injured patients have been identified as Ludhar Mani (40), Balwant Singh (12), Suraj Singh (13), Reta Devi (40), Ram Nath (70), Godu Devi (35), Krishma (12), Kanta (35), Urjan (9) and Om Prakash (30).
