A 10-year-old girl was molested by a 28-year-old shopkeeper in Farrukh Nagar town here, police said.
The incident took place last evening when the girl had gone to a nearby shop for exchanging a pair of shoes, police said, adding, the shopkeeper dragged the girl to the basement and sexually assaulted her.
The girl returned to her home at 6 PM and narrated her ordeal to the family members following which they lodged a complaint with the police.
A case has been registered under section 354 (assault/criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of IPC and relevant sections of POCSO Act, Sahibabad Police SHO Upendra Yadav said.
The accused, identified as Raju, has been arrested.
