A 14-year-old girl student was allegedly stabbed to death by a youth after she refused his marriage proposal in Adilabad district of Andhra Pradesh, police said today.

The accused, Ravi, entered the girl's house at Kankuru village of Jaipur Mandal in the district last night and allegedly stabbed her, they said, adding the girl was initially shifted to a local hospital and then referred to another hospital.

She, however, died on the way, police said.

Ravi, a labourer had allegedly harassed the girl, a student of Class 9, with his love proposals, which she had turned down. The victim's parents had also warned Ravi, a police officer said quoting the complaint.

The police said Ravi did not heed them and insisted that he wanted to marry the girl.

Later, he allegedly killed the girl, the police said.

A murder case has been booked and a hunt launched to nab the accused who is absconding since the incident, they said.
