Police today arrested four persons including two women for allegedly 'hiring' a minor girl to be used as a 'surrogate mother' at Vasco town in Goa.

Shoaib Afridi, his wife Salat, Satyawan Naik and a woman named Taslima were arrested under the Goa Children's Act and Protection Of Children From Sexual Offences Act, while the girl was rescued, police said.

"The girl had been supplied to Shoaib by Taslima," said inspector Sudiksha Naik.

Preliminary probe revealed that Afridi and his wife were childless, and Taslima put them in touch with the minor girl who was persuaded to act as a surrogate mother for money.

Naik allegedly promised to marry the girl if she agreed to become surrogate mother.

The girl has been sent to a shelter home, police said. Further probe is on.
