An eight-year-old boy, son of Raigarh Superintendent of Police today died after falling off a running train near Kharsia railway station in the district, police said.
The SP Rahul Bhagat and his family were travelling to Raigarh from Raipur when the incident took place.
According to Additional SP Prafulla Thakur, the boy Kanishk went near the bathroom in the AC coach when the train was near Kharsia and did not return. Upon search, his body was found lying on the tracks.
State Chief Minister Raman Singh, cabinet members, top police officers and senior Congress leaders have expressed grief over the demise.
