Minus 2 degree recorded in Sandinala near here

Temperature in nearby Sandinala today recorded minus two degree, claimed to be the coldest in its history.

According to Sandinala Power House sources, the temperature went down to zero degree past midnight and recorded mins two degree at five AM, resulting in biting cold in entire area.

Water in the Porthimund dam, surrounding the area, was frozen, with one mm thick ice forming the upper layer, they said.

This was treat for photographers, particuilarly tourists, who brave the cold and rushed from here to the spot, some nine kms away, as some people broke the ice by throwing stones, they said.
 

The area recorded minus one degree a fortnight ago.
