Mira Bhaindar Municipal Corporation poll on August 20

The election to Mira-Bhaindar Municipal Corporation will be held on August 20, while counting of votes will be taken up the next day.

The Maharashtra State Election Commission today announced the schedule for the poll.

State Election Commissioner J S Saharia said with this the model code of conduct has come into effect for the election.

Voting for 95 seats in 24 wards will take place on August 20, he said.

Candidates can file nominations from July 26 to August 2. Candidates can file details on a computer-based system provided by the SEC but the nomination form has to be submitted personally, Saharia added.
 

Scrutiny of forms will take place on August 3 and nomination can be withdrawn by August 5. The SEC will distribute the signs to the candidates on August 7. Voting will be held from 7.30 am till 5.30 pm, he said.

Counting will start at 10 am. The code of conduct will end after the results are announced, Saharia said.

There are around 5.93 lakh voters for the poll. Of the total seats, 48 seats are reserved for women candidates. Out of 95 seats, 64 seats are for open category candidates, added Saharia.
