Uttarakhand Governor Aziz Qureshi today underlined the importance of organising programmes to dispel misconceptions among potential visitors about poor tourism infrastructure in the disaster-hit state.

Inaugurating the four-day autumn festival 'Sharadotsav' in Nainital, the Governor said it is necessary to hold such festivals with greater enthusiasm to give a new lease of life to the rain-ravaged state by reviving the tourism sector.

Though admitting that the tourism sector has been hit by the June deluge, he said most of the tourist spots barring the char dhaams had remained unharmed.

Infrastructure at major tourist destinations is intact and many misconceptions among people need to be dispelled. "Programmes like Sharadotsav will go a long way in dispelling these misconceptions," he said.
