Water Minister Kapil Mishra today alleged that miscreants were breaking pipelines of Delhi Jal Board (DJB) with an aim to snap the water connection to consumers ahead of the city municipal polls.
"During a meeting with DJB officials, it was learnt that some miscreants were breaking DJB pipelines with an aim to prevent consumers from accessing water," he told reporters.
He said the government would be deploying around 50 guards to man the pipelines to prevent such leakages.

"Despite taking various steps in curtailing inflated bills for the past two years, I am receiving similar complaints from consumers in the current billing cycle," he said in the letter.
A period of 30 days can be given to such customers to get their bills rectified without any late payment surcharge levied on them during the investigation, the AAP minister reiterated.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections are slated for April 23.
