Miscreants hold up and rob vehicles

Armed miscreants waylaid vehicles on a busy route in Nawada district of Bihar and looted cash and valuables worth several lakhs from passengers, the police said.

The incident occured near Mangura Road on Kadriganj - Roh route during the wee hours today.

Qadriganj Sub-Inspector Dharmendra Kumar said the criminals had felled a tree on the road to obstruct the passing vehicles.

"Two buses stopped there seeing the obstruction. The miscreants robbed passengers of their cash, ornaments, mobile phones and other valuables. Several women were among those who were looted," Kumar said.

The police official added that an FIR has been registered and raids are being conducted to nab the persons involved in the hold-up. This is the sixth incident of road robbery in the district in the last two weeks.
