Miscreants hurl bombs, 3 policemen among 5 injured

At least three police personnel, including an inspector-in-charge, and two others were injured when miscreants hurled bombs at them in Puri district today, police said.

The incident took place this evening at Dobandha Chhak near Tandikera village when a police team headed by Chandanpur police station inspector-in-charge Giraja Patnaik was on its way to nab accused persons in a rioting case.

Besides Patnaik, two police constables and two other civilians were injured in the incident. The miscreants pelted crude bombs at the police party taking advantage of darkness, police said.

The injured persons were admitted at the district headquarters hospital here.
 

No one was so far arrested in this connection, police said.
