Miscreants injure Home Guard jawan in Purnea district

A Home Guard jawan was injured when miscreants fired at him as he tried to stop the motorcycle-borne criminals at a checkpost in Purnea district on Sunday, a police officer said.

The injured jawan has been identified as Raj Kapoor Yadav who received a bullet injury in his waist, Baisi Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Manoj Ram said.

The jawan, a resident of Rahua village under K Nagar police station of the district, was deputed at the excise department's checkpost at Dalkola.

After getting information about the incident, the SDPO rushed to the spot and took the jawan to Sadar hospital in Purnea in his vehicle.

 

Doctors attending to the injured jawan said, he was out of danger, the SDPO said.

The incident occurred when a jawan stopped the four motorcycle-borne men at the checkpost. But they tried to flee from another route, which was blocked by another jawan.

The miscreants started firing indiscriminately injuring Yadav, the SDPO said.

All police stations of the district have been put on alert in the wake of the incident, the SDPO said.

Raids were being conducted to nab the culprits.
