Unidentified miscreants tried to break open an ATM but failed to steal cash from it at Borigumma in Odisha's Koraput district yesterday, police said.
Though the miscreants had damaged the front portion of the automated teller machine (ATM) run by the State Bank of India at the Dora Market Complex yesterday, they were unable to take out any cash from it, police said.
"We suspect the attempt was made by miscreants early in the morning. Police patrol team had found the ATM in good condition around midnight on Monday," said Uttam Mohanty, inspector-in-charge of the Borigumma police station.
"We are in contact with bank officials to get details of the cash inside the ATM and whether the CCTV was working or not," he said.
