Miscreants rob bank, decamp with Rs 20 lakh cash

Four unidentified miscreants today robbed a bank here of Rs 22 lakh cash at gunpoint.

Around 2.30 pm, the robbers barged into a branch of Syndicate Bank in Dankaur area after overpowering the security guard, a police official said.

The bank staff and customers were made to go into the strong room of the bank at gunpoint, following which the robbers locked them inside, he said adding that the miscreants then fled from the spot decamping with Rs 22 lakh.

On geting information, SSP Kiran S and other senior police officers reached the bank and a dog squad was pressed into operation to nab the robbers.
 

Robbers had taken the rifle of the guard, which was later found in jungle area of Ghanori village.

IG Meerut Alok Sharma along with DIG Ashutosh Kumar also visited the bank who said the robbers will be arrested soon.
