Miscreatns open fire on two, flee with Rs 15 lakh

Two persons were injured when unknown miscreants opened fire on them before robbing around Rs 15 lakh from the duo this morning at Bhatpara in North 24 Parganas district, the police said.

The incident happened at around 11.30 AM when victims were returning home at Bhatpara area under Jagatdal police station of Barrackpore sub-division with the cash when unknown miscreants on bikes followed them and tried to snatch the money from them, they said.

"They first tried to snatch the money, but when the victims resisted they opened fire and took away the bag from them and fled," a police officer said.
 

The victims, the police said, had a close save and were taken to a nearby nursing home where they were treated for the bullet injuries.

An FIR has been registered with the Bhatpara Police Station and police have launched a search for the miscreants, they added.
