A day after asking the government to remove the red beacon on his vehicle and withdraw police escort provided to him, Leader of the Opposition Marasingha Mishra today resigned the Business Advisory Committee(BAC) of Odisha assembly.
"In pursuance to my declaration in the floor of the House on March 22, 2017, I hereby submit my resignation from the Business Advisory Committee of the Odisha Legislative Assembly. This may be accepted forthwith," Mishra wrote to the assembly secretary.
Mishra said he had resigned from the BAC to protest against the "autocratic attitude" of the ruling BJD and the state government in the assembly.
"As the government has not been giving any importance to the BAC which decides business to be undertaken in the House, I preferred to resign from the committee," he said.
Mishra said he had on March 22 announced on the floor of the assembly that he would resign from the committee since Speaker Niranjan Pujari had permitted the government to run the house in a partisan manner while the BAC meeting was on.
He had written to the chief secretary yesterday requesting the Odisha govenrment to remove red light on his vehicle and withdraw the security cover provided to him.
