The body of a seven years old girl who had gone missing two days ago was found near an abandoned quarry near Raiwada canal at Devarapalle in the district this morning, with the police arresting her uncle for her murder.

The girl was identified as V Divya.

Her uncle P G Sekhar, who had a dispute with her father V Murugan, allegedly strangled her, police said.

She had gone missing after leaving the home to go to a grocer's on Tuesday afternoon.

In the complaint with police, her mother Dhanalakshmi said she suspected that Sekhar, her distant cousin, was behind her daughter's disappearance.

Sub-inspector G Appanna of Devarapalli police station detained Sekhar and some other suspects yesterday. During the interrogation Sekhar allegedly confessed to the murder because of his disputes with Dhanalakshmi and her husband.

However, the police said they were yet to ascertain the exact reason behind the murder.
