A father of a 14-year-old girl, who went missing on April 17, today alleged police of shielding the accused in the matter.

"Initially, the SHO told me that my daughter will return back soon. However, it was only after the entire family, relatives and village seniors threatened a protest, Ranger Nangal police registered a case on April 19," the girl's father said.

The girl went missing from Sangrawan village and her family members have alleged a youth and few others, who also belonged to the same village, of kidnapping her.

"However, rather than acting against the accused person, the police thrashed two of my relatives for supporting me in the matter," he said.

The police, meanwhile, denied harassment or thrashing of any person during the investigation.
