A 78-year-old Indian man, who went missing from his daughter's home in Sharjah soon after arriving at the Emirate last week, was found by local police unharmed.

Syed Nisar Ahmad had gone missing on Friday from his daughter's house in Al Khan area in Sharjah, just hours after he arrived from Bangalore with his wife. His daughter and her family had been looking everywhere for him since then and even printed pamphlets and distributed these in the area.

Syed's daughter, Syeda Noor Ameenah told Gulf News that she received a call from Al Heera police station yesterday afternoon saying that they have found her father.

"My father went out without telling anyone. He has a habit of going out for a walk after breakfast, and when we realised he was gone for some time and had not come back, we looked everywhere for him but could not find him," Syeda told the paper.

"I am really happy that we finally found him. Those last few days were really bad for us," said Syeda.

Syeda said that her father is still unaware that he is in the UAE and still believes he is in India. "He was telling me he was just walking around and that he went for prayers. He said he does not understand how I came to Bangalore I am trying to explain things to him."

Syed will go home with his daughter after police formalities are completed.
