Missing paratrooper's body found from water reservoir

The body of a trainee paratrooper, who was undergoing training at the Aviation Research Centre (ARC) at Charbatia air base in Choudwar area here, was recovered today.

The paratrooper was missing since yesterday during para-jump after he jumped from a helicopter near Mangarajpur training base and his body was recovered by search teams of NDRF, ODRAF and personnel from Odisha fire department in a joint operation today, police said.

The body of the paratrooper, Tashi Dawa (39) of Mysore, was located from Haripur water reservoir, about 25 kms from Mangarajpur training base, police said. The body was taken to the ARC campus and will be sent for post mortem tomorrow.
 

The search teams first located his parachute and helmet from near the water reservoir this afternoon and after an intense search in the reservoir, his body was fished out, Chowdwar police said.

A case of unnatural death (UD) in this regard has been registered in the police station after a written complaint was received from the ARC authorities.
