Mistry declares assets worth over Rs 3 crore

Congress candidate Madhusudan Mistry, who is fighting against BJP's prime ministerial nominee Narendra Modi, today declared assets worth over Rs 3.22 crore.

Mistry filed his nomination papers from the Vadodara constituency today.

Mistry owns Rs 1.72 crore movable assets, while his wife Kamlesh has Rs 7.45 lakh in different banks, post and policy accounts.

Mistry and his wife each have Rs one lakh cash in hand.

The Rajya Sabha member owns gold worth Rs 6 lakh and silver valued at Rs 45,000.

Mistry, who also holds the post of AICC General Secretary, has declared in the affidavit that he has one house in Gandhinagar which is worth Rs 1.38 crore.
 

About liabilities, he has mentioned that he is repaying a car loan of Rs 4.80 lakh to a bank, but there are no dues of the government on him.

Mistry, who has mentioned 'pensioner' as his profession in the affidavit, has filed an income tax return of Rs 8.86 lakh in the year 2012-13.

The veteran Congress leader also owns two cars-- a Swift worth Rs 3 lakh and an Ertigo priced at Rs 10 lakh.

Mistry, who is an MA from Vadodara's Maharaj Sayajirao Univeristy, holds a diploma in development studies from Oxford University in the UK.

On his offences under the law, he said he had only one case pending against him which was lodged two days back when he tore down posters of Narendra Modi and tried to paste his banner on it.
