Mixed trend prevails in Chennai foodgrain market

Barring thoor dal, whose price rose sharply, other commodities either declined or ruled steady in wholesale foodgrains market here during the week ended today.

Prices of moong dal, wheat and sooji decreased while urad dal, gram dal, sugar and maida remained unchanged compared to the previous week close.

Thoor dal opened at Rs 8,800 an increase of Rs 400 per quintal from its closing rate and then ruled steady before ending the week at the same rate.

Moong dal was lower by Rs 300 per quintal at Rs 10,200 from its previous week rate and closed the week at Rs 10,200.
 

Wheat opened the week at Rs 2,750 less by Rs 50 per quintal from its last week's Rs 2,800 and ended the week at the opening rate.

Sooji (90 kgs) slid by Rs 100 on Monday at Rs 2,900 from Rs 3,000 and closed the week at Rs 2,900.

Urad dal (Rs 8,200), gram dal (Rs 4,400), sugar (Rs 3,000) and maida (90 kgs) (Rs 2,500) ruled steady throughout the week.
