P. P. Thawlla, on behalf of Lalthangliana due to the latter's absence in the House, moved a resolution that the Centre be moved to declare Dr. B. R. Ambedkar's birthday as the National Anti-Racism Day.

The ruling Congress members, however, contended that Dr Ambedkar represented minorities like Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe and he had nothing to do with race and proposal to announce his birthday as anti-racism day was far-fetched and irrelevant.

The private resolution was rejected by a voice-vote.
