BJP's Mizoram unit again urged state Governor Lt Gen Nirbhay Sharma to dissolve the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) and order fresh elections to the Congress ruled council.

There had been a constitutional break down in the 20-member CADC after rebellion by 12 Congress members and a mid-term poll was required, BJP said in a statement today.

It said the party re-submitted a memorandum to Sharma yesterday, protesting against the decision of the governor to have a floor test in the CADC. BJP had submitted the memorandum to the governor for the first time on June 29.

Sharma on Tuesday placed the CADC under governor's rule and appointed the deputy commissioner of Lawngtlai district to administer the council on the governor's behalf.

He also instructed CADC chairman to convene a sitting of the council and conduct floor test within a week.

Congress bagged 17 seats in the 20-member CADC in 2013 polls.
