Mizoram BJP seeks ACB probe against Cong legislators

Mizoram BJP today urged the state Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) to initiate investigations against some ruling Congress legislators whose assets have increased manifold during their tenure in the government.

A press statement issued by the party unit said that the meteoric increase of wealth of the ruling party leaders, including chief minister Lal Thanhawla must be due to corruption.

Listing the increase in the assets of nine legislators in five years from 2008, the statement said that the assets of Lalrobiaka, elected from Dampa seat have increased by 2,306 per cent during the period, while the worth of the assets of Lal Thanhawla increased by 311 per cent during the same period.
 

It said that the chief minister had over Rs two crore asset in 2008 and in 2013 it was Rs nine crore.
