Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla today inaugurated the office of the United Nations Joint Initiative of four UN agencies in Aizawl.
The UN Joint Initiative was a project to be jointly implemented by the state government and the four agencies of the UN - FAO, ILO, UNDP and UNIDO for systematic and sustainable development in Mizoram.
The UN agencies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the state government on October 16 last year on the joint initiative, which would chalk out proposals for protection of ecosystems, impart scientific training to farmers and arrange market linkages for people engaged in agriculture and allied services.
The inaugural function was attended by the head of UN envoy in India Louise Georges Arsenault and other officials from the agencies of the world body.
