Mizoram assembly today unanimously passed 'Mizoram Entry Tax Bill, 2015' introduced by state Taxation Minister Lalsawta.
The bill sought to levy entry tax on 45 items and the government is expected to collect additional revenue of Rs 300 lakh annually when the act is enforced.
Mizoram Infrastructure Development Fund would be created into which the proceeds of the entry tax would be credited, Lalsawta said adding that the fund would be utilised exclusively for development of infrastructure.
The fund would be used for construction, development and maintenance of roads and bridges in the state, creation, development and maintenance of infrastructure for supply of electrical energy, water supply and sanitation while also providing finance, aids, grants and subsidies to the local bodies and government agencies for creation of infrastructure, he added.
